Random. I know.

Today a client sent me this:  "Random.  I know.  I’m also wondering why the turkey roast my Mom gave me to fix for Thursday isn’t a whole turkey anymore.  How did it get to the point of having to be pressed back together into a roast?  Oh, it’s a trip to live inside my head!  Life is like an ongoing episode of Seinfeld – a bunch of random nothingness rolled into a day.  Sorta like a turkey roastJ"

My response was, "Think of the turkey roast like you do family.  Really, family isn’t whole anymore. The entire dynamic has changed.  With kids growing up and moving out and having babies of their own and moving on with life.  Once or twice a year (if we’re lucky) family gets pressed back together into a family unit that looks like family on the outside, but all the while it’s just simply parts of the whole (and the spouses and significant others are parts of someone else’s whole).

Didn’t know your episode of Seinfeld was going to turn into an episode of Parenthood, did ya??"

Fairly profound for ramblings on a Tuesday afternoon when the workday just about has my brain numb from overuse....
